Vinyl gutters are one of the more affordable choices among gutter materials. However, there are a few reasons why several gutter professionals do not recommend them for various properties.

Here’s why they are not a good option for your gutter system.

They Are Not Environment-Friendly

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a form of reinforced plastic, is typically used to make vinyl gutters. However, plastic is known for decomposing slowly and can be challenging to recycle. When improperly disposed of, it can also significantly affect the environment. Vinyl gutters are inexpensive, but they don’t completely degrade and are frequently disposed of in landfills, where they will stay for a long time before slowly deteriorating and releasing dangerous chemicals into the surroundings. These chemicals seep into the soil and can enter water pipelines.

They Have Low Durability

Vinyl gutters are cheaper than other gutter materials. However, because of their poor performance and durability, they break down and fail faster than other gutter materials. These gutters also tend to crack and warp under constant exposure to temperature changes. As they age, they sag and tilt because they are unable to withstand the weight of their load. In this regard, we recommend more reliable materials, such as galvanized iron and copper.

They Have Limited Customization Options

There are only a few color options for vinyl gutters – most of which are white and brown. As a result, you might find it challenging to pick a hue that matches your external color palette. Instead, you might want to consider aluminum gutters if you want additional color choices and better overall quality while maintaining affordability.
