On February 4-7, Gutter Helmet® will be hosting its annual National Dealer Meeting in Miami Beach, FL. We asked remodeling industry expert and keynote speaker Mark Richardson to give us a sneak peek of the topics he will be discussing at this exciting event.
GH: What will be the topic of your keynote presentation?
Mark: The title of my presentation is “Are You Fit to Grow Your Business?” Its aim is to help remodeling organizations define, establish and grow a sustainable business.
GH: What does business fitness mean?
Mark: A business is like a body: with the right visualization and plan you can get it in shape. I’ll be discussing a variety of topics covered in my latest two books, How Fit is Your Business? and Fit to Grow. I’ll walk attendees through the current environment in the construction/gutter/remodeling industries, talk about how things have changed since the recession, and provide a “CliffsNotes version” of my business fitness checkup.
GH: What does your business fitness checkup cover?
Mark: My 10 criteria to evaluate business fitness include Numbers, Processes, Leadership, Team, Product, Profitability, Stress, Reputation, Positioning and Relationships. I’ll explain how business leaders can score themselves in each of these areas to determine overall business fitness, and share themes they need to integrate into their business to grow.
GH: Why do you believe a fit business is so important?
Mark: In the current business environment, there is so much room for growth. From 2008 to 2012, an annual growth rate of 5% was respectable. Now, it’s realistic for a fit business – one with the right business mindset – to experience a growth rate of 20% and beyond.
