How Much Should You Pay to Keep Your Gutters Clean?

By January 22, 2016October 18th, 2023No Comments

How much to clean gutters is a common question we hear from homeowners, especially in the spring, fall or after a big storm has passed through our area. While we’re always happy to answer these types of questions, the fact is that there really is no set price for professional gutter cleaning. The typical range is between $100 and $250, depending on a number of factors.

These factors include:

● Type of building. Complex buildings mean complex gutter system configurations.
● Height of building. Gutters on single- and two-story homes can be reached with ladders, but anything higher will require special lifts for access.
● Size (square footage) of building. Homes with bigger footprints require longer gutters and more downspouts, and therefore take longer to clean.
● Frequency of cleaning. Many gutter cleaners charge extra for gutters that have not been cleaned in some time, since dirt, debris and grime buildup tend to be more severe in these cases.
● Clogs and damage. Additional costs can be expected if there are existing issues in the gutter system that need to be repaired.

All gutter cleaning services include clearing out of leaves and debris, waste disposal, and flushing of gutters and downspouts. Many add in inspection of fasteners, basic repairs, and resealing of joints, end caps and outlets.

Some contractors also offer gutter cover installation, which helps eliminate the need for regular cleanings. This option will significantly increase your upfront costs, but will save you a great deal of money in the future. Keep in mind that gutters may need to be cleaned twice a year or more, so the investment can be well worth the money—especially if you plan to stay in your home long-term.
