The persistent clanks and thuds you hear on your gutter system every time it rains can be annoying. If you’ve ever been kept up by this steady barrage of noise, it means that there’s something wrong with your gutters and downspouts. Infinity Home Improvement, your local source of gutter protection systems takes a closer look at the reasons why this happens.
Loose Brackets or Appendages
Rain, snow, heavy winds and temperature changes can loosen the hold of your gutter system on your roof over time, causing the brackets to pull out of our place. The momentum and force of the water pouring into loose gutters are enough for them to juggle. This creates the noise of water splashing noisily against your downspout. Consider calling a contractor who can re-tighten the screws on the brackets or replace the damaged parts of your gutter system.
Misaligned Downspouts
A properly installed gutter system should have gutters slightly angled and downspouts that are subtly tilted for water to propel away from your home. However, if the downspouts are too rigid of a structure, expect each water droplet to freefall to the corners, creating a dripping sound. Consider replacing the bottom section of the downspout to alter its angle. Investing in a plastic or vinyl elbow or a downspout extender will also suffice.
Clogged Gutters
If leaves, twigs, and other debris fill most of your gutter system, rainwater might not flow as intended. Water overflowing to the sides of the gutters hit the outside of your downspout or home, causing damage to your roof, home exterior, landscaping, and foundations. So, before the next storm arrives, always check your gutters for debris that may block your drainage system. Trim the tree branches hanging over your roof to limit potential gutter clogs, as well.
At Infinity Home Improvement, we make sure your gutter system is functioning properly and is noise-free.
